Correspondence are personal in nature, and the letter dated Franklin Parish, September 15, 1986, mainly regards being locked up. The collection also consists of three Blood issue: A drama in two acts typescripts, and photocopies of reviews of Body. One review is inscribed by Crews: "Mell: if not for you, we both know this book might never have been written ... Not too shabby for an old drunk written off as finished, eh?"

The collection consists of one letter: dated Charleston, May 2, 1787, addressed to Jacob Weed at Point Peter, St. Mary's River, Georgia, from John Ferrie, regarding 500 acres at Point Peter, St. Mary's River, Georgia that Ferrie "would be willing to give up his claim to" if Weed would help Ferrie with what he believe an outrageous price that Weed's partner James Finley had charged for a survey. On the reverse side, undated and unsigned, is a drafted letter (probably copied onto clean paper before mailing), beginning "Since I wrote you last I have received a letter from Mr. Pengree who informs me that the Spaniards pretend to hold and protect the Negroes on acct of their being British property …"

Also included are (photographs of) correspondence and documents regarding land and property holdings. Papers are dated approximately 1762-1789, and the digital photographs of the papers were taken by Mary Warren in 2010.

Business correspondences regard Hack's involvement in the Richmond Factory (Augusta, Georgia). Also included are letters in the 1840's from William Schley, Philip Schley, and Dr. Edward Eve of Augusta, Georgia; a few Civil War letters; and the reproduction of a letter from Daniel de Bruce Hack to his cousin William Hack, regarding Sherman's March. The collection contains receipts (for taxes, purchase of slaves, etc.); a reproduction of Hack's amnesty oath; and one unidentified photograph (possibly the Richmond Factory). The first item in the collection is genealogy of the Hack family.
