Lauth served on the UGA faculty from 1981 to 2013 and led the Department of Political Science as its Head from 1988 to 2001. In 2001, he became the inaugural Dean of the University of Georgia's School of Public and International Affairs. This collection primarily documents the research and manuscripts of Thomas P. Lauth, who served as a faculty member at UGA from 1981 to 2013. It also contains Lauth's personal files which document his correspondence, valedicatorian speech, awards, service, personal notes, and an artifact series documenting Lauth's campaign signs.

The Ed. L Jenkins Papers documents the political career of Congressman Ed Jenkins who represented Georgia's Ninth District (Northwest Georgia) from 1977 to 1992. Prior to being elected to the House of Representatives, Jenkins worked as a trial lawyer in Jasper, Georgia. During his tenure in the House of Representatives, Jenkins served on several committees including: the Ways and Means Committee where he was involved with the Trade Subcommittee, the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct, the Budget Committee, the Steering and Policy Committee, and the House Select Committee to Investigate Covert Arms Transactions during the Iran-Contra Hearings. Jenkins was an advocate of the textile industry in Georgia. He served on both the Textile and Congressional Rural Caucus to represent the needs of the industry and his constituents. Legislation of particular interest in this collection includes the Textile and Apparel Trade Enforcement Act of 1985, the Caribbean Basin Initiative, the Tax Reform Act of 1986, and Ronald Reagan's Balanced-Budget Amendment. Other topics of interest in this collection includes files on the Chattahoochee National Forest Preservation, lake and water resources, agriculture, textiles, domestic trade, taxation, and the Iran-Contra Hearings.

The Charles Boynton Knapp papers are divided into six series: Inauguration, Athletics, Financial, Administrative, Performing Arts and Visual Arts Complex and Olympics. The Inauguration series consists of materials related to Charles Knapp's inauguration as the President of the University of Georgia in 1987. The Athletics series has items connected to various sports but mostly deals with the Athletic Association and the University's football team. These materials date from 1983 to 1997. The Financial series includes budgets and fundraising and development documentation. The Administrative series provides insight into the day to day workings of the University of Georgia and its administration during the years 1981 to 1997. The Performing Arts and Visual Arts Complex series mostly consists of material documenting the creation of the complex in the early to mid-1990s. The Olympics series has items relating to the University's involvement with the 1996 Summer Olympics.
