The collection consists of clippings from Knox's personal scrapbook, affidavits, letters, manuscript speeches, military documents, and other material. The speeches were likely written during the time he was a teacher in Mississippi, prior to the Civil War. Of particular interest are also two speeches he gave at the Knox Institute (a Freedmen's school named after him) in Athens, Georgia. Also included are materials relating to Knox's family, including letters (many addressed to Clarkston, Michigan), an account book, and photographs.

Papers include an order to appear in court for the trial of Private William Luby, order appointing Foster as Ambulance Officer, Quartermaster's Return, special order granting leave of absence, request for ambulances, and discharge certificate. Also included in the collection is a handwritten copy of an Act of Congress to establish a uniform system of ambulances in the Armies of the United States (1864).

The collection consists of correspondence from Horatio to his mother in 1864. He writes from "Camp 16th GA Regt." near "Gaines Farm," Petersburg, and near "Chesterfield Heights," Virginia; about his battles and wounds. Further letters are signed "S. B. David," and "Alice," and concern Dr. Bell's buggy, and the deaths of Simeon David and Daisie David. The collection also includes a newspaper article (preservation copy) regarding the Thirza David Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, family histories concerning Thirza Bowen David and her activities during the Civil War, and a bullet with a handwritten note that reads: "This is the bullet that caused the loss of H. J. David's eye in the War between the States, in the Battle of Front Royal on August 16, 1864."

The collection consists of correspondence between the White family, dating 1915-1935. The bulk of the correspondence (1918-1919) is written by Steve to his family while he is serving in Selles-sur-Cher, France with Machine Gun Replacement Company #1. He writes about boys being mustered out, how his unit was attached to the 41st division, but no longer is, where he is stationed, and Replacement Companies that are being transferred into different divisions. Correspondence in April 1919 are written in Army Hospital 26 in France, and the hospital in Nantes, France; White writes about his condition and going in front of the surgeons and S.C.D. Board. Further correspondences are written to Daisy White from soldiers stationed in France, and aboard U.S.S. Cobb in Norfolk, Virginia, regarding feelings soldiers have for Daisy and the war, and replacement regiments. Three letters are addressed to Ethelene Clay in Rome, Georgia, from Arthur C. Rollins. Rollins' writes from Massachusetts and Boothbay, Maine. The collection also includes newspaper clippings (preservation copies), and a picture of flags of the allies in World War I.

The collection consists of correspondence written by Francis Bickett to his wife Isabella, March 1861-New Year 1865. Correspondences are dated St. Martin and Camp Dennison, Ohio; Virginia, Vicksburg and Camp Sherman, Mississippi; Larkinsville, Alabama; Cleveland, Tennessee; and East Point, Vining's Station, and Savannah, Georgia. Bickett describes marches, battles, rumors, positions, campaigns, and "a blockade runner that came into port." Excerpt from a letter dated February 8, 1864: "I will not build battles in the air."

The collection consists of two notebooks kept by Prosper Jules Alphonse Berckmans of Fruitland Nurseries (Augusta, Georgia) from 1861-1915. Volume 1 contains drawings of grapes and grape leaves, some partly in watercolor; for some varieties, handwritten notes identify southern growers as Berckmans' source, including Dr. A.P. Wylie, G. Speth, J.A. Rion, and Dr. S.J. Kenworthy. The volume also includes newspaper clippings and letters from other growers. Volume 2 includes drawings of peaches, apples, pears, plums, oranges, tangerines, strawberries and pecans; and clippings, advertisements for nurseries, and letters from growers.
