Series III. International Organizations contains records related to Long's work with international advocacy and mental health organizations. The bulk of the series documents Long's work with the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH), a nongovernmental organization founded in 1948. Long served as President from 1995 to 1997 and the series contains WFMH correspondence, conference materials, planning and organizational materials, board and meeting minutes, and newsletters. The series also includes materials from the European Regional Council, a member group of the larger WFMH, and materials related to the formation of a North American Regional Council. The series also documents Long's work with the United Nations Committee on Mental Health and her participation in the 1995 United Nations World Conference on Women held in Beijing, China. Some of the subjects that Long focused on internationally include prevention promotion and mental health global awareness initiatives, issues related to women, and mental health for refugees.
