Abstract Or Scope:

The collection consists of drafts and presentation materials used throughout 2001 Initiative meetings. Several versions of the drafts contain hand-written notes. Materials cover a variety of topics, from the quality and sources of water in the Metro Atlanta area, to plan implementation techniques. Also included is the Final Report of the Clean Water Initiative. There is also material pertaining to Senate bill 130, which the Clean Water Initiative succeeded in passing in 2001. A VHS tape labeled "Clean Water Initiative (Local Coverage)" is available through the Walter J. Brown Media Library.

The collection consists of correspondence, genealogical information on the Ball, Barksdale, Shivers, and other allied families, clippings, printed material, photographs, typed manuscripts of Ball's AP articles, World War II ephemera, unclassified military documents, postcards, and two 16 mm motion pictures of the war. The correspondence contains letters from Edward Ball to Lucy Shivers Ball during his service as an AP war correspondent while in London, England; France; and Germany. The correspondence also contains letters of the Barksdale family, Lucy Shivers, and Milner Shivers discussing family matters, daily activities, and news of friends or relatives.

This collection consists of the manuscripts and personal materials of author Berry Fleming. Many of his novels, such as Two Tales from Autumn and The Bookman's Tale, are included as well as several editions and variations of his comedy play The Acrobatz. Included are Fleming's ledgers, Harvard memorabilia, and photographs.

Joel Giddens papers, 1906-1995, bulk 1930-1985

Abstract Or Scope:

This collection has materials from 1906 to 1995 with most dating from the 1930s through the mid-1980s. Documents found in the collection include Gidden's scholarly writings, information about his work with gunpowder during World War II and some of his professional correspondence. There are teaching and lecture materials created during the years 1946-1985 when he was an UGA professor. Gidden's collection also has an extensive reading file consisting of articles and notes that date from 1906 to 1995. In addition, there are plaques and certificates awarded to him during the 1950s, 1970s and 1980s.
