This collection consists of the political papers of Doug Barnard Jr.'s time in the U. S. House of Representatives from 1976-1993. The papers include legislative files related to the committees on which he served and correspondence with his constituents. Of particular interest are his legislative files related to banking, as Barnard spent fourteen years in the industry before entering politics.

Atlanta District Office includes correspondence with constituents, reports on the activities of district representatives, files on event planning and Cleland's travel schedule, office policies, project and research files, and the files of state director Bill Chapman.

This collection consists of 108 scrapbook photo albums ranging from the mid-1940s to mid-1990s. They revolve around the personal and professional life of E. Paul Torrance. His wife, Pansy Torrance, and many of his colleagues and students feature prominently in the collection. Similarly, the Torrance family pet cats are also well-represented through the years. However, a significant part of the collection focuses on E. Paul Torrance's work in academia, especially after his retirement from the University of Georgia. The albums contain images from Athens, Georgia; Minnesota; Taiwan; Japan; Germany; and India, among several others.

Darl Snyder International Development papers, circa 1940-2009

Abstract Or Scope:

The collection represents the contributions of the Snyders and their daughter, Cherie, through papers, publications, awards, artifacts and images. In addition to documenting their work, many of the materials offer a unique view of life in contemporary Africa and the efforts of agricultural extension and development in the Northwestern part of that continent. Many of the artifacts were created by artisans from around the world, from Tifton to Ouagadougou, and given to the Snyders in thanks for their efforts promoting international development projects. These materials were displayed in conjunction the Darl Snyder Lecture in 2004. At that time the Snyders toured the exhibit with Dr. Lioba Moshi, Director of the UGA African Studies Institutes. A transcription of their remarks regarding the significance or history of various artifacts can be found in folder 20 of box 1. In addition we have placed their comments with the description of items in the list below, identifying the speaker by their initials, D.S. or F.S. for Darl or Florence Snyder.

Anne L. Sweaney collection, 1907-2012

The Anne L. Sweaney collection consists of materials from her career with the College of Family and Consumer Sciences' Home and Consumer Economics department. The collection has manuscripts that she wrote on topics ranging from low income housing to the quality of life for older adults. There are records of Sweaney's research including the SMART HOUSE studies (1988 through 1991) and her work on various Southern Regional Projects (1970s-1990s). Other documents relate to her teaching (1981-2012), serving as head of the HACE department (2004-2012) and as Interim Dean of FACS (2010-2011). Also included is information about conferences that she attended and presented at along with grants that went toward funding her numerous studies and research projects. In addition, there is material from her service on the Athletic Association's Board of Directors.
