Also found in this accession are materials relating to Apelles: The Georgia Art Journal.

Voices of American Homemakers oral history collection, 1982-1986

The collection consists of 200 oral histories by women throughout the United States. Included are approximately 250 standard cassette tapes, paper copies of the transcripts, a social history of American homemakers and a set of scholarly papers delivered at a 1983 symposium.

Lamartine Griffin Hardman Papers, II. Business files consist of Governor Hardman's business and personal papers from 1880 to 1956. The Commerce Office files subseries include such topics as temperance, the 1904 Jackson County primary election returns, Hardman's campaign expenses for 1914, Georgia State College of Agriculture finances, dam and water mill specifications, land surveys, tuberculosis treatments, and monthly reports from the Hardman Roller Mills. The General correspondence files feature miscellaneous materials related to Hardman's multiple business and personal interests. Highlights include a petition for a wage increase by Harmony Grove Mills workers in 1917, papers documenting Hardman's medical experiments with Indian hemp (cannabis indica) as an anesthetic, and correspondence concerning the planning and subsequent dedication of a monument to Dr. Crawford W. Long. Finances includes cancelled checks, tax returns, and asset reports. The Ledgers subseries contains business ledgers for Harmony Grove Orchards, Lake Alcoyne Farm, the Hardman Estate, and the Hardman Plantation. The Lamartine Hardman, Jr. papers document his activities at Harmony Grove Orchards, personal correspondence, and minutes from the Sarepta Baptist Association. The J. N. Griffin files contain correspondence and bills relating to mutual business interests held by Governor Hardman and his father-in-law, Mr. J. N. Griffin.

Marguerite Thomas Hodgson papers, 1875-1997

Abstract Or Scope:

The Marguerite Thomas Hodgson papers cover the span of 1875 to 1997. Many of the materials are related to the Chi Omega (Mu Beta chapter) fraternity. Other items are from Ms. Hodgson's college days at UGA in the mid 1940s with older materials belonging to her father, Ralph Hodgson, and other relatives. There is also a scrapbook containing clippings of an ongoing 1965 newspaper column, "Early days on the Georgia Gridiron," written by John Stegeman and Ralph Hodgson.

Works Progress Administration (WPA) of Georgia miscellaneous papers, 1934-1942

The collection consists of miscellaneous writings and compilations of historical records collected and compiled by workers of the Works Progress Administration of Georgia and Georgia Writers' Project from 1934-1942. Inculded are the Works Progress Administration of Georgia History Records Survey, Field Worker's Correspondence Forms; State Editorial Identification Forms; Questionnaire to all mayors for data on points of interest in cities; Federal Writer's Project, Instructions for Architectural Series, American Building Materials; and correspondence from Works Progress Administration of Georgia, Atlanta, Georgia, regarding compilation of The American Guide and the State Guide. The remainder of the collection contains histories of Georgia cities, towns, and people, including (but not limited to) hospitals, parks, military organizations, landmarks, music, architecture, and agriculture.

The collection consists of typescripts of speeches and class notes from Dr. Calvin Logue's honors speech communication class at the University of Georgia. Included are ten volumes of speeches by students, along with permissions to publish from each student, as well as class rolls and course notes from. Logue's correspondence relating to the manuscript and this collection is also included.
