Abstract Or Scope:
Correspondence including letters from Georgia and Southern writers and internationally known celebrities; clippings, notes, writings by Daniel and others, printed material, photos, and other miscellaneous papers; and celebrity photos, including many which are autographed; together with correspondence (ca. 100 items, 1963-1977) from James Purdy to Daniel, draft of Purdy's novel, House of the Solitary Maggot (1974), and other material by and about Purdy. Other correspondents include James B. Cabell, Erskine Caldwell, Isa Glenn, Caroline Miller, Marion Montgomery, Susan Myrick, Frances Newman, Flannery O'Connor, Julia Peterkin, Jeannette Rankin, Celestine Sibley, Virgil Thomson, and Friedelind Wagner.

The collection consists of biographical information, correspondence, writings, printed material, photographs, and media. The correspondence includes letters from family, fans, and publishers and letters regarding awards and speaking engagements. Writings include articles, short stories, reviews, and books. Greene has written five books: Praying for Sheetrock (1991), politics and civil rights in McIntosh County (Ga.); Last Man Out (1996), a mine disaster in Springhill, Nova Scotia; The Temple Bombing (2003), the bombing of a synagogue in Atlanta in 1958; There is No Me Without You (2006), AIDS and orphans in Ethiopia; and No Biking in the House Without a Helmet (2011), a humorous look at life with nine childlren. Research for these books includes interviews with the various persons in the books. Also included are manuscript drafts, both handwritten and typed. There are several editions of Greene's books in the printed material and magazines containing her articles. There are photographs of Melissa Fay Greene, but most are of Ethiopian children photographed while researching for There is No Me Without You. Audiovisual material consists mainly of cassette tapes of interviews.

The Personal series contains correspondence and material of a personal nature including invitations, greetings, thank yous, condolences and items related to the Richard B. Russell Foundation, which Senator Talmadge served as chairman from 1971 until 1974. Arrangement is chronological by topic. Especially noteworthy are the subseries Sympathy and Ham Business. Sympathy includes letters of condolence to him and his family relating to the death of his youngest son, Robert, in 1975. The Ham Business subseries contains printed materials and correspondence concerning Talmadge Hams. Betty Talmadge managed the business while the senator worked in Washington. The invitation subseries includes invitations accepted, fulfilled, or regretted.

The collection consists of papers read at annual meetings of the South Atlantic Modern Language Association between 1960 and 1992. Files for most years also include annual bulletins from the association. SAMLA's yearly meetings include special topic sessions in which scholars focusing in those topics present their research on topics such as: Advanced Writing, American Literature, Folklore, Freshman English, Renaissance English, Medieval English, Restoration and 18th century English, Romantic and Victorian English, Modern English, Teaching Language and Literature, Linguistics, Film Studies, Children's Literature, Comparative Literature, Women's Studies, Irish Studies, Slavic Studies, and Teaching English with Technological Advances. SAMLA also has annual sessions for languages including: Old English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Slavic languages, Asian Languages, Scandinavian languages, Latin, and Italian, among others. Papers on all of these topics and many more can be found within this collection.

The collection contains listings of monthly periodicals in Spanish from a clipping service in Spain entitled "The News." Clippings relate to Paso and productions of his plays and range from 1960-1967. All clippings file envelopes are addressed to John C. Dowling, who was installed as the Chairman of the Department of Spain and Portugal at Indiana University and was a professor of foreign languages in Texas. Also included is a pamphlet of biographical information.

Eye of the Storm Documentary Film Collection, 1968-1998

In 1995, Jack Barnette and his son Mark Barnette engaged John Ehrlichman, White House Counsel on Domestic Affairs to President Richard Nixon, to collaborate with them on a film project to tell the inside story of those working in the White House during the Watergate scandal that ultimately brought down the Nixon presidency. The project culminated in long and short versions of the video documentary In the Eye of the Storm, hosted by author Tom Clancy, the video production An Evening with Ehrlichman at London University, and video footage of Bob Woodward's interview of Ehrlichman. This collection consists of production files, interview transcripts, Ehrlichman's files related to the film, and stills and footage contracts.
