The collection consists of correspondence from Colonel Robert R. Martin during his service in World War II, 1944-1945. Correspondences are written mainly to his wife, Mary Belle Martin, and a few are addressed to Jane Martin and Robert N. Martin. Written from France, Germany, and Austria, letters contain detailed descriptions of Martin's surroundings, local people, administrative or military duties, and condition of his unit. Letters also detail the problems of raising a family while separated.

The collection consists of correspondence of the Lipscomb family from 1856-1893. Included is a letter from Andrew A. Lipscomb to his sister Molly at Tuskegee Female College, Alabama, regarding a family death; letter from Williams Rutherford to Alexander H. Stephens, regarding Rutherford's view of issuing bonds instead of treasury notes for the cotton loan; two letters from Frank A. Lipscomb to his "Auntie," dated Camp Chase, Ohio, regarding Lipscomb's time in jail; and three additions letters from Frank A. Lipscomb regarding his boat trip to Europe, travels through Germany and Italy, impressions of Europe, European opinions of Southerners, and his indecision regarding the future.

The collection consists of eleven letters written by Mosely betweeb 1853 and 1861, addressed to various family members, primarily his mother and wife, Olympia C. Mosely. The collection also contains a small, cloth pouch embroidered "S. M." that may have been made by Mosely's wife. Mosely's war letters to his wife date from 1861, sent from Tennessee, reporting on his health, his travels and duties with the infantry, camp life, and discussing other relatives and mutual acquaintances. Mosely's letters to his mother and siblings date from the 1850s and discuss family members, health, crops, and his life in Arkansas after moving from Georgia.

Tazewell (Richmond, Va.), the second and third letters refer to Wilde's research into the history of paper money before and after the Revolution.

The collection consists of two original letters from Richard H. Wilde: dated August 6, 1818, recipient unknown, regarding legal matters; March 31, 1840, to William Mann, Esq. in Venice, requesting a reference from the library of St. Mark in Venice, with "My life is like the summer rose," and two clippings regarding the death of Richard Henry Wilde attached. Also included are two copies, made in 1957, of letters from Richard H. Wilde: dated November 27, 1834, to R. Gilmer; March 1, 1845, to Abbot Lawrence, Boston, introducing Mr. J. E. Johnson, the artist who will be erecting a statue of Dr. Benjamin Franklin. The final page consists of typed notes copied from Dr. E. Tucker, regarding pictures, portraits, and a bust of Wilde.
