Abstract Or Scope:

The correspondence documents communication among Habitat for Humanity administrators, as well as their exchanges with donors, volunteers, and other supporters, some of whom are celebrities or public officials. The series consists of general correspondence, which is filed alphabetically, and special correspondence, which is filed according to name or subject. Millard Fuller, founder and former president of Habitat for Humanity, is one of the primary correspondence in this series up until 2006 when Jonathan Reckford took his place. The correspondence covers a wide range of topics, including projects, events, fundraising, and organizational planning.

This collection consists of cigarette cards of actresses, photographs of celebrities, portraits and postcards of actors and actresses from various productions, cartoons, and cabinet cards. The scrapbooks display newspaper clippings and programs of productions. The autographs are photographs signed by celebrities; many are addressed to Harry Eaton. The articles, clippings, and notes include information about celebrities. The advertisements and posters promote various productions. The programs are from a myriad of productions from many genres, including comedies, dramas, tragedies, and French and Italian productions. The blueprints display the foundation of various stage scenery and sets.

The administrative files consist of the papers of Habitat for Humanity's International Board of Directors (IBOD), project manuals and guides, land and legal files, and watchdog reports and surveys. The IBOD files mostly contain meeting minutes and annual reports created by top-level administration. The project manuals and guides are bound volumes focusing both on specific projects and broader planning initiatives for the organization. The land and legal papers primarily concern properties in and around Americus, GA, home of the Habitat for Humanity headquarters. The watchdog files are made up of surveys and reports regarding consumer protection.

Talmadge's office staff had to coordinate the organization of constituent correspondence records. The tracking system began with attaching the actual letter (incoming and outgoing), along with copies of approved response paragraphs. These materials were then organized under a subject access point. Topics of interest include tax reform, Vietnam, school desegregation, busing, gun control, social services, and the Panama Canal Treaty.
