Aaron in September 1938.

The letters are arranged chronologically and consist of responses by Richard B. Russell, Herman E. Talmadge and Carl E. Sanders to the constituent Mrs. Gerald T. (Elizabeth) Massie. Of interest, individual responses of both Richard B. Russell and Herman E. Talmadge to questions about Federal abuses of power in the education system, 24 May 1961, and the Kennedy Administration and Supreme Court decision to enforce desegregation polices in the South, 19 June 1963. Also included are statements by Senator Talmadge on the 1964 presidential election and the source of funding of travel by Martin Luther King, Jr. to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. The single letter from Carl Sanders, dated 3 September 1964, provides a brief reaction to President Johnson's "Great Society" initiative. The final letter in the collection is Senator Russell's thank you letter, written thirteen days before his death in 1971, to Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Massie.
