The collection consists of one indenture: dated April 5, 1834, Middleton Pope of Oglethorpe County paid Elijah Clark of Newton County three hundred dollars for 160 acres of land in Cherokee County, Georgia (lot number 201, fifth district, 4th section). The reverse side of the indenture is signed two more times: dated December 2, 1837, Oglethorpe County, Georgia; dated March 3, 1838, the deed was "recorded in Book C, page 181" in Floyd County, Georgia.

The collection consists of a letter from Elijah Clarke, Hickory Grove, (Ga.) to Col. Benjamin Cleavland, Franklin County (Ga.), dated June 24, 1787. Clarke has just returned from seeing the Governor in Augusta and discusses the Governor's assurance that a treaty with the Creek Indians is imminent, mentions Alexander McGillvrary, and talks about a misunderstanding between the Indians and the Indian Commissioners.
