The collection consists of two diaries of Cyprian Porter Willcox. Entries dating July-September 1848 discuss the French Revolution of 1848; the succeeding Republic government; and military and political issues of Prussia, Germany, Italy and the United States, including slavery. Part of the volume outlines the history of the United States, including the founding of the original colonies and the revolution of 1776.

Haynes family Masonic aprons and cribbage board, 1800-1950

Abstract Or Scope:

Collection includes three Masonic leather aprons and one wooden cribbage board from the Haynes family. These items were previously stored at the Ashantilly House. One of the three aprons is from South Carolina, indicated by a crescent moon on the front of the apron, and belonged to William Greaner Haynes Sr. The remaining aprons were obtained sometime after the family moved to Darien, Georgia in 1918. Aprons and cribbage board all include Freemason imagery of the All-Seeing Eye and the builders square and compass.

Abstract Or Scope:

The collection consists of papers of Charles Cotton Harrold from 1888-1936. The papers include photographs, printed material, a scrapbook, clippings, and correspondence pertaining to Indian Mounds and archeology in Georgia. The photographs, in three volumes with indexes, document archeological excavations by the Lamar Group (1934) and the Macon Group (1934). The scrapbook, also indexed, contains manuscript entries on archeological discoveries or excavations in Georgia as well as maps, correspondence, and printed material laid in the volume. The collection also contains photographs of the University of Georgia (1896-1898).
