Richard B. Russell, Jr. Collection, Subgroup E, Series V: Artifacts include Russell's Senate office furnishings, the chair he used on the Senate Floor, his campaign ephemera, cartoons and artwork, and his official and personal gifts. Of significant interest is his childhood baseball card collection; there are approximately 1100 tobacco cards dating from the period 1911-1913, and most are in very good condition. Throughout his public service career, Russell received many plaques, citations, proclamations, honorary degrees, resolutions, and presentation certificates. Some of the more prestigious were honorary degrees from Oglethorpe University and John Marshall University, the James Forrestal Award, the Mississippi Distinguished Civilian Service Award, the Great American Award, and others from military, agricultural, business, and civic groups.

There are numerous photographs of Atlanta, Macon, Milledgeville, Mount Berry and Berry College, Savannah, Sea Island, Thomasville, Valdosta, and Warm Springs, Georgia.

The collection consists of papers of the Butler family of Madison, Morgan County, Georgia from ca. 1820-1950. Contains correspondence to various members of the Butler family including Col. D.E. Butler, Peter Walton Butler, and Bessie Butler. Correspondents of Bessie Butler include Benjamin W. Hunt of Eatonton, Joseph Jacobs of Atlanta, and J. Quinn West of Thomaston, Georgia, all which discuss family matters and Georgia politics. The collection also contains medical notes from college (1820s); an autograph album of Ginnie T. Walton (1849-1850); glass plate negatives of Thurlston, the Butler home in Madison (1880s); and a diary of Baptist minister Jesse Mercer describing a journey (March-June 1820) to Philadelphia to attend a Baptist convention.

The Richard B. Russell, Jr. Collection, Subgroup C, Series XIV: Military Installations contains correspondence and printed materials on military bases primarily in Georgia. This series is subdivided into general correspondence, arranged chronologically, and individual installations, arranged alphabetically and chronologically. The general correspondence concerns the location of military bases and contains some material related to government installations that were not military. Individual installations consist of correspondence and printed materials associated with military bases located in Georgia. Any additional non-textual materials originally filed with papers were removed for preservation purposes and improved access. These materials include photographs, audiovisual items, scrapbooks, vertical files, memorabilia, and books.

The collection consists of papers of Frederick William Benteen from 1833-1951. The collection contains a variety of material mainly relating to Benteen's service in the 7th U.S. Cavalry and, in particular, his involvement in the Battle of Little Big Horn. Includes correspondence (1871-1888) from Benteen in the Montana territory, Kansas, and Nebraska, to his wife, Catherine L. Benteen; a map drawn by Benteen of the Little Big Horn battlefield; some official military documents including the draft and revised draft (July 4, 1876) of Major Marcus A. Reno regarding George A. Custer and the Battle of Little Big Horn; and numerous photographs of members of the 7th Cavalry, military groups and locations, including Ft. Dodge, Kansas (1868-1869), Native American leaders, and several of the Benteen family.
