Scope and content:

Consists of testimony of Savannah slave traders (enslavers) Hector Mitchell and "Mr. Gairdner", who swore that "sometime in the year [1797] a parcel of [thirty-six enslaved people] was picked up at sea." Mitchell and Gairdner, agents for enslavers John and James McBurney had the persons placed in jail; an ordinance of the Savannah city council arranged the sale of these persons to David Garvin. The statement goes on to mention that John Kinnard now holds perceived ownership of six of the enslaved persons of the original group.

These six enslaved people are named Baptiste, Gilbert, Peters, Edward, Louis and John Louis
