Note from donor: "This box contains materials related to the Underwood for Governor campaign of 1982. These items include press releases, staff memos, schedules and various campaign promotion materials. Also included are some internal records of campaign contributions as well as copies of campaign finance reports made to the state ethics commission. These records and reports illustrate the vast differences in the way most candidates raised campaign funds in the early 1980s as contrasted to the way such funds began to be raised in the following decades. In the 1980s most candidates for public office in Georgia raised much of their campaign money from fairly small contributions form a large number of contributors. In later decades it became the normal practice for practically all candidates to expect to raise the bulk of their campaign funds from large donations from a smaller number of contributors."
