Series II. National Organizations documents Long's career and leadership roles nationally in major mental health organizations and federal regulatory and advocacy groups, most notably her work on President Jimmy Carter's Presidential Commission on Mental Health (PCMH), convened in 1977 to focus on creating a national mental health policy. Materials also document her service as president of the National Mental Health Association (NMHA) in 1979 and 1980 and her national advocacy work with other organizations including The Carter Center, where she was primarily involved with the Rosalynn Carter Symposium on Mental Health Policy; the Institute of Medicine (IOM); and the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL).
