Scope and content:

Series II. Political contains material related to Byrd's campaigns for Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture (1954), Lieutenant Governor (1958), Governor (1962 and 1966) and U.S. Congress from the 3rd district (1964). Of note are the materials related to "Garland T. Byrd Day," held in August 1962 as an effort to maintain political momentum following Byrd's suspension of his gubernatorial campaign.
