A. Legislative Correspondence

Extent:
37 box(es) and (18 linear feet)
Scope and content:

The Legislative Correspondence Files contain letters from constituents and other interested parties concerning initiatives introduced in the House of Representatives or the Senate. Folder titles within this category reflect general subject concerns and/or a "common name" for the bill (i.e. "Taxation-Industrial Revenue Bond" or "ABM System"); organization is alphabetical by subject. With the exception of the Agriculture Committee (on which O'Neal served), few folders carry the name of the committee which had jurisdiction over the legislation. These files are separated into three periods representing each of O'Neal's terms in Congress: 1965-1967 (89 th Congress), 1967-1969 (90th Congress) and 1969-1971 (91st Congress).
