Scope and content:

Arranged chronologically, this series consists of black and white and color photographs, negatives and contact sheets depicting the professional events and activities of the Ambassador Hillenbrand. Included in this series are images of Willy Brandt, Henry Kissinger, John F. Kennedy, Helmut Kohl, Konrad Adenauer, Nelson Rockefeller, Richard Nixon, William Rogers, Alexander Haig and others. Of significance are the photographs documenting John F. Kennedy address in Bonn, President Nixon and Leonid Brezhnev signing the Anti-Ballistic Missiles Treaty, the signing of the 1971 Quadripartite Agreement, the signing of U.S.-Soviet Cultural Exchange Agreement, wreath-laying ceremony on the 23rd anniversary of the liberation of Hungary, European Chiefs of Mission meetings and the signing of Agreement of Cooperation on Environmental Affairs between the U.S. and the Federal Republic of Germany. Many of the photographs have been separated from their associated files; this information is recorded on the separation sheet accompanying the photo.
