Scope and content:

This series contains manuscripts, printed materials, clippings, and correspondence and documents the life and primary activities of Josephine Mellichamp. Materials include biographical sketches and clippings, articles, news releases and contracts related to her writing career, drafts of "Georgia Heritage" and Georgia Senators and other writing projects. The series is arranged into four subseries: A. Correspondence, B. Printed Materials and Clippings, C. Speeches, and D. Manuscripts. Materials are arranged in general chronological order. The manuscripts subseries is arranged alphabetically by title of article or book.

It is important to note that Mellichamp's filing system was idiosyncratic. She filed materials alphabetically under one subject heading but also gathered similar materials under different headings.
