2. Computer Mail, 1985-1994

Scope and content:

Computer Mail contains constituents' letters to Rowland that were assigned individual numbers generated by the computer and filed sequentially. Typically these letters received form responses from Rowland because they addressed issues about which constituents were frequently concerned or about which a mass of constituents corresponded about at one time. Topics are various and sometimes can be gathered from the folder title (e.g., Conrail). For number-only folder titles (e.g. 185000-18910), a date has been provided to help with access to the letters. The sub-subseries is organized in chronological order by congress. Staff members who were responsible for the files are noted in parentheses in the box list. Of note are Cam Hay's files (103rd Congress, 1993-1994) that contain form responses for the period 1991-1994 and are arranged in alphabetical order by topic. Cam's mail files follow the form letters and are arranged alphabetically by folder title or topic.
