A collection of over 4,500 unique photographs illustrates the life and career of Senator Russell. Early photographs include images of Russell ancestors and from Russell's childhood and, then, span his life through 1 October 1970, when he made a military inspection tour at Key West, Florida.

The photographs are organized into three groups: A. RBR Photographs, B. Winder Photographs, and C. Trips. Each group is arranged in chronological order. They are accessible by name of individual, event, and subject heading.
