The collection consists of a manuscript mathematics notebook of "Master William Hodgson, Reverend B. Ash's Academy Retford, 1833." The first page has a sketch of a corpulent gentleman holding a violin. The notebook begins with "Mensuration, continued, Problem 7." The handwriting, figures, numerals, and printing are beautifully done.
