The collection consists of a diary of Robert C. Peirce, Paymaster of the U.S.S.Dawn, from 1862-1863. Pierce writes about weather and activities of the U.S.S.Dawn in and around the Ogeechee River, south of Savannah, Georgia, including the islands of Ossabaw and Wassaw.
