Historical Note

Emily Barnelia Woodward (1885-1970 was an author, editor of the Vienna News from 1916 to 1932, and director of the Georgia State Public Forum.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of the papers of Emily Woodward from 1916-1957. Includes correspondence, programs, invitations, speeches, radio scripts, newspaper clippings, and scrapbooks. The correspondence deals primarily with her involvement in the Georgia Press Association, Georgia Forestry Association, the Women's Committee of the National Democratic Party, and the Georgia State Public Forum. The collection includes letters from Ellis Arnall, Sandy Beaver, Martha Berry, Charles Crisp, Walter George, Corra Harris, Margaret Mitchell, George Foster Peabody, E.D. Rivers, Eleanor Roosevelt, Clifford Walker, and William A. White. The scrapbooks cover the years 1940-1950 and contain newspaper clippings, programs, notices, and magazine articles.
