Historical Note

Leon Harman Grayson (1906-1993) attended the University of Georgia, graduating with a LL.B in 1929. While at the university he was an officer in the Mercer-Hodge and Phi Kappa Literary Societies as well as a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and local Masonic Lodge. After graduation he went on to practice law in his hometown of Savannah, Georgia during the height of the Great Depression. In 1935 he was offered a position in President Franklin D. Rooselvelt's Justice Department in Washington, D.C..

Scope and Content

Collection includes two scrapbooks by Leon Harman Grayson (1906-1993). The first scrapbook, which dates from 1922 to 1930, centers on Mr. Grayson's time at Savannah High School and the University of Georgia. Emphasis is placed on his friend's signatures, clippings and photographs of football games, dance and banquet invitataions, and graduation commencements. The second scrapbook, which dates from 1929 to 1932, is filled with wedding and dance invitations, clippings, Christmas cards, and promotion letters. Also included is a Sanford Stadium Dedication Yale vs. UGA souvenir ticket dated October 12th, 1929.
