Historical Note

Lieutenant Colonel Lewis Steveson Craig (1807-1852) served in the U.S. Army in Florida and during the Mexican-American War.

Scope and Content

This collection contains correspondence between Craig Barrow, III and the author Bill Bragg regarding his research and writing about Lt. Col. Lewis S. Craig, the draft of Bragg's work An Officer of the Old Guard, original journal pages written by Lt. Col. Craig, and an account of the death of Elizabeth Church Robb. Also included are a map of the battle for Monterrey, Mexico, a locket of hair, and other ephemera.
