Collection Description

Historical Note

The Atlanta Prison Farm, or Honor Farm, was started by the Bureau of Prisons and United States Federal Penitentiary in Atlanta in 1919 and continued until 1965. The farm used manual labor of inmates to produce food for themselves and those at the main penitentiary.

Scope and Content

This collection contains photo identification cards of inmates of the Atlanta Prison Farm during the late 1950s through the early 1970s. Each card includes a photograph, fingerprints, physical description, and information about sentences.
