Historical Note

Margaret Anne Barnes (1927-2007), a writer known for the book "Murder in Coweta County" which won the Edgar Allen Poe Award and was turned into a 1983 television movie, was a journalism student at the University of Georgia in the mid 1940s. She also wrote "A Buzzard is My Best Friend" and "The Tragedy and the Truimph of Phoenix City, Alabama."

Scope and Content

Collection contains items from Margaret Anne Barnes, including newspapers and publications, a baby book, and a scrapbook from her time at the University of Georgia with football game ticket stubs, restaurant menus, sorority rush letters and invitations, souvenirs from Belgium, and a 1946 Clemson vs. Georgia football game program.
