Historical Note
John Calvin Johnson (1808-1887) served as Clerk of Court in Watkinsville, Clarke County (Ga.) for roughly 40 years. Johnson was later appointed as the librarian at the University of Georgia for the school year 1886-1887 according to the University catalogue.

The collection consists of a handwritten copy of a summons from April, 1833 for Mr. Robert R. Hardin written by John Calvin Johnson, Clerk of Court in Watkinsville, Clarke County, Georgia.
