Scope and Content

This collection consists of correspondence, photograph cards, a journal, and a muster roll of Captain Stanley's Troup Artillery for November and December 1861. The correspondence is mainly between Stanley and his wife Julia. He writes from Camp Lawton (Savannah) in 1861 and then from Tallahassee and Quincy, Florida. The journal includes entries from Benjamin Henry Pope in 1862 as he serves in Company K, 9th Mississippi Infantry, and provides details of battles in the Glasgow/Cave City/Munfordville, Kentucky area.
