Collection Description

Scope and Content

This collection consists of cigarette cards of actresses, photographs of celebrities, portraits and postcards of actors and actresses from various productions, cartoons, and cabinet cards. The scrapbooks display newspaper clippings and programs of productions. The autographs are photographs signed by celebrities; many are addressed to Harry Eaton. The articles, clippings, and notes include information about celebrities. The advertisements and posters promote various productions. The programs are from a myriad of productions from many genres, including comedies, dramas, tragedies, and French and Italian productions. The blueprints display the foundation of various stage scenery and sets.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

This collection was acquired by the Hargrett Library piece by piece over many decades through purchases and gifts. It was made into a manuscripts collection and catalogued in 2011 in preparation for a move to the new building.
