Historical Note

Hall Johnson (1888-1970) was a highly regarded African American choral director, composer, arranger, and violinist. For further information, see Hall Johnson in the New Georgia Encyclopedia.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of seven photographs depicting members of the Hall Johnson Choir during the 1930s. The collection also includes a photograph of Hall Johnson conducting, inscribed by Johnson, dated January 1, 1933.
