Collection Description

Historical Note

James Hilliard Nunnally was the founder of the Nunnally Candy Company. He married Cora Winship (who was a cousin of the Woodruff family). They had one child, Winship Nunnally. The candy company was very successful and when teamed with the Coca Cola soda fountains, made even more money; son Winship wisely invested his father's money and became a multi-millionaire. Apparently in his later years, James Hilliard Nunnally became somewhat of a "society seeker" and spent his money in Atlanta, Palm Beach,FL, and other places. The son, Winship, did not approve of his father's galavanting but Winship was married six times and had ten children. James Hilliard and Cora Nunnally and their son, Winship, are buried at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, Georgia.
