Historical Note

Charles Jones Martin served in the U.S. Army from 1916 to 1919. He trained in Texas and was briefly stationed at Fort McPherson in Georgia before being sent overseas to France. Before his service, he received a certificate from the University of Georgia in 1913.

Scope and Content

The collection consists primarily of letters from Charles Jones Martin, Jr. to his family back home while he was overseas in World War I. Other items include photographs, official documents, postcards, and a certifcate from the University of Georgia via the State College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts.
