Richard Malcolm Johnston (1822-1898) was a lawyer, teacher, and dialect humorist from Hancock County, Georgia.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of three letters, the first concerning Johnston's struggles to fulfill Mrs. Benjamin Harrison's desire for an inscription on vellum. Remaining letters regard the International Copyright bill, a series of readings arranged for Johnston, and short stories written for Century Magazine.
