Collection Description

Historical Note

James Barrow was born in North Carolina and served in the Revolutionary War. He settled near Milledgeville (Georgia) and acquired a considerable amount of land. He served as a soldier at Brandywine, Germantown and Valley Forge. He died in Baldwin, Georgia.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of two portions of James Barrow's diary (the first portion, dated 1818, is a photocopy of the original pages), his will, a handwritten copy of his will, and three photograph albums. The photograph albums contain cabinet cards of public figures from the 19th and early 20th centuries.
