Historical Note

John R. Woodard was a journalist and author of the feature "About Dogs," which appeared in the Georgian-American, Atlanta journal and The Atlanta constitution. He also wrote a variety of short stories about dogs.

Scope and Content

The collection consists mostly of the writings and correspondence of John R. Woodward. Many of the writings are stories about dogs. Also included are photographs and photo negatives of dogs, as well as additional printed materials containing stories by Woodward.

In this preliminary sorting the correspondence, both business and personal, is arranged chronologically. The news articles "ABOUT DOGS" were destroyed, but they can be found in either the Georgian-American, Atlanta Journal or The Atlanta Constitution. Most of the writings are stories about dogs. The miscellaneous material consists of dog photographs and printed materials containing stories by Woodward. Photo negatives of dogs are also included in this collection.

This collection is not yet fully processed, but has been roughly arranged into the following series: Series 1. Correspondence (chronological); Series 2. Financial Materials; Series 3. Writings and Printed Materials; Series 4. Miscellaneous; and Series 5. Photographs.
