Private George Harris was a member of Company E of the 33rd United States Colored Infantry Regiment, stationed in Savannah, Georgia.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of one handwritten document: dated June 8, 1865 (?) (last digit of year is illegible), relating to the court martial of Private George Harris for sleeping while on sentinel duty. The document states that the court found Private Harris guilty and sentenced him to hard labor and to wear a 24-pound ball for six months on any government fortification.
