Historical Note

Charles Francis McCay (1810-1889) taught philosophy, civil engineering, and mathematics at the University of Georgia, and was elected President of the South Carolina College in 1856.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of correspondence from Charles McCay to Narcissa Williams (December 1939) and Julia McCay Buchanan (1877-1886). The collection also includes: Charles McCay's will; photograph of a portrait of McCay; typescripts, notes and correspondence including biographical information concerning McCay.
