"The Georgia and Alabama towns were abandoned by the Creeks after the Battle of Taliwa in 1755, and were occupied by the Cherokees in the years following, especially after the American Revolution as they were compelled to cede the more northerly lands"-- on the map; Caption title; Compiled from maps by Stuart, Hunter, and Royce, J.
