The Georgia Athletics Oral History Project began as a series of interviews with former University of Georgia head football coach and athletic director, Vince Dooley. The collection seeks to document the athletic program history of the University of Georgia and other state higher education institutions.

GAOH-001 Coach Vince Dooley series

In this series, Coach Vince Dooley discusses his early life, education, and career as head football coach and athletic director at the University of Georgia. He talks about decisions he made regarding the recruitment of running back Hershel Walker, highlights of the 1980 football season leading up to the 1981 Sugar Bowl, implementation of Title IX legislation and the creation of an all-sports athletic program at the University of Georgia during his tenure as athletic director.
