Historical Note

Parham Walter Smith Jr. (1924-2005) was an attorney from Macon, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army in North Africa and Italy during World War II. He was wounded in Italy and convalesced in North Africa and Miami, Florida. He was later assigned to Fort McPherson and Camp Gordon in Georgia. He received his law degree from the University of Georgia in 1949.

Scope and Content

This collection contains correspondence between Walter Smith and his family and friends before and during the time he spent serving in the U.S. Army in World War II. It also contains a few photographs, some ephemera, and a local Macon, Georgia radio station script from an appearance he made when he returned to Georgia.
