Floyd Flansburg (1896-1972), of Watertown, New York, served in the 71st Engineers, U.S. Army during World War I. He began his duty in the 214th Engineers, trained in antiaircraft searchlight operations at Camp Forrest in Georgia. Mr. Flansburg was then deployed in defense of Washington, DC with the 71st Engineers. After the war he was employed as a plumber.
This collection contains correspondence, ephemera, and a photograph album regarding the time that Floyd Flansburg spent in the U.S. Army, 71st Engineers. Also included are letters from 1938 while he was in a VA Hospital in Bath, New York. The collection contains several references to the flu outbreak of 1918, and the some typed rosters of the 214th and 71st Engineers.
