Eugenius A. Nisbet (1803-1871) served in the Georgia legislature, in the U.S. Congress, and as one of the original justices on the Supreme Court of Georgia. This collection contains a letter from N. Foster Browne of Eatonton, Georgia to E. A. Nisbet appealing to him regarding his failed attempt to secure an officer's commission with the promise to raise a Corps of Engineers, Sappers and Miners for the defense of Savannah, Georgia from Governor Joe E. Brown.
