The New Hope House is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide support and hospitality to families of people on Georgia's death row, including lodging and transportation, among other services. The founders Ed Weir (1942-2017) and his wife Mary Ruth were human rights advocates, members of the Jubilee Community in North Georgia, where they worked with refugees and their integration in American society, before creating the New Hope House in 1989.
The collection is concentrated on issues regarding prisoners scheduled for execution in Georgia including correspondence, advocacy publications and vigils, funerals, art done by prisoners, and files regarding individuals.
