Lewis Nielson (b.1950) served as a professor of music composition at the University of Georgia from 1978-1999, and directed the University of Georgia Contemporary Chamber Ensemble. Nielson served on the faculty at Oberlin Conservatory from 2000-2015.
Helmut Lachenmann (b.1935) is an award-winning composer and teacher from Stuttgart, Germany.
Karlheinz Stockhausen (1928-2007) was an influential German composer of experimental electronic music.
