Josiah Meigs served as the second president of the University of Georgia, from 1801-1810. After his university career. In 1814 he was appointed commissioner of the U. S. Genreal Land Office.
Wyllys Silliman of Zanesville, Ohio was married to Deborah Webster Cass and had two children.
The letter informs Mr. Silliman of the Secretary of the Treasury's approval of the selection of three parcels of land for the use of schools in the town of Grange that he must reserve from sale.
