"Thomas Franklin Deitz was an American novelist from Georgia. He had a B.A. and M.A. in medieval English from University of Georgia. He was the author of the Soulsmith Trilogy, comprising of the books Soulsmith, Dreambuilder, and Wordwright. He also wrote a popular series consisting of Windmaster's Bane, Fireshaper's Doom, Darkthunder's Way, Sunshaker's War, Stoneskin's Revenge, and The Gryphon King. Deitz also recently won the Phoenix Award (2007). The collection consists of manuscripts and drafts of many of Tom Deitz's works. Included are the manuscripts of Windmaster's Bane; the original manuscript for Fireshaper's Doom; the original manuscript for Sunshaker; a typescript draft of The Stolen Country (which was eventually published as The Gryphon King); a typescript draft of The Gryphon King; a copyedited typescript draft of Darkthunder's Way; a copyedited version of Stoneskin's Revenge; the manuscript for Soulsmith, a Tale of Becoming; a manuscript for Wordwright; a manuscript for Dreambuilder; and manuscripts of Above the Lower SKY, Ghostcountry's Wrath, Dreamseeker's Road, The Demons in the Green, and Landslayer's Law. Also included are copies of Shining Falcon by Josepha Sherman and Jason Cosmo by Dan McGirt. In addition, the collection contains clothing for the Society of Creative Anachronism, awards, photographs, visual art, and research files.
